White Rhombus House

Studio City, Los Angeles, USA
2025 - 2026

2,750 ft2 / 255 m2

A distinctive, faceted 2-story ADU is at the heart of this reimagining of a small older home in LA’s Studio City. Inspired by the idea of an oasis, the new pool lies at the heart of the composition, with extensive and lush plantings conveying a sense of serenity and privacy.

Using a wandering, zigzag line to draw a visitor through the space, the project evolved into a series of four volumes based on planimetric rhombuses. Two create the plan of the ADU, with one comprising bedrooms and the other the common areas. A similar strategy generates two spatial interventions in the existing home, where this geometric motif is used to create an elevated ceiling area as well as a new structure containing an expanded primary bedroom and main entry. The four volumes, each with a contrasting standing-seam roof, add coherence and structure to the architectural conception.
