An ostensibly simple, yet challenging project, this home in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles began life as a low-cost 1990s era attempt at “Spanish Style” archietcture, of a sort endemic to LA. Faced with a tricky site and a thoughtless floor plan, the challenge was both to reorder the interior to create a sense of flow and grace, rethink spaces to create principal spaces with beauty and proportion, create a proper primary suite, and develop an aesthetic language that could speak to the home’s historic context and architectural aspirations, but from a place of integrity and sincerity.
